Today we will look at the concept called talk music. This is basically something you do while someone is speaking in church and you need to back them up or during collection of offerings.
So let's look at the movement!
Firstly we are in the key of G and the scale of G with the number system is as follows:
G-A-B-C-D-E-Gb-G
1-2-3-4-5-6-7-1
The movement basically starts on the 6 and then goes to the 4. The chords for both hands are as follows:
6 Chord:
LH: E-B-Gb
4 Chord:
LH: C-E-G-B
RH: D-G-B/C-D-E-G (Please note that before you play this chord you can add a melody line G-A-B-C in you right hand and then play the chord afterwards, then resolve to the second chord)
These chords will be seen as the destination chords. You can add passing chords to get to these destination chords.
The first passing can be applied when you move from the 4 back to the 6. You can add a chord on 3 like this:
The first passing can be applied when you move from the 4 back to the 6. You can add a chord on 3 like this:
3 Chord:
LH: B-Eb-A
LH: B-Eb-A
The second passing chord can be applied when you move from the 6 back to the 4. You can add a chord on the 1 like this:
1 Chord
LH: G-F
LH: G-F
RH: B-E-Ab (Please note that before you play the this chord you can add a melody line B-Bb-A in you right hand and then play the chord afterwards)
The third passing chord will consist of a movement (4-6-2-5-6) on its own that can be applied when you move from the 4 back to the 6, like this:
4 Chord:
LH: C-E-G-B
RH: D-G-B-D
6 Chord:
LH: E-B-Gb
RH: G-C-D-E-G5 Chord:
LH: D-C
RH: Gb-B-Eb-Gb
Then you go back to the 6
The last passing chords can be applied as a passing for the 3 of earlier, creating a 7-3-6 progression, like this:
LH: E-Bb
RH: Eb-Ab-C
LH: Eb-A
RH: D-G-B
LH: B-Eb-A
RH: C-F-A (Please note that you will play two chords on the 3 chord)
Lastly you resume back to the 6. You can play the normal 6 chord and add a second chord on the 6 to end the movement as follows:
6 Chord:
LH: G-B-D-Gb
RH: G-A-D-Gb-A
